What is calling?

The call by Os Guinness, was one of those books, that at first I thought didn’t really apply to me. I’ve heard all of this before. But I was wrong, this book helped me better realize what a privilege it is to be called by someone to something. God creator of the Universe has called me to himself. Not to a job, a ministry, or anything like that, he has called me to himself. Mind blowing.

Here are some of my favorite quotes:

“Calling is the truth that God calls us to himself so decisively that EVERYTHING we are, EVERYTHING we do, and EVERYTHING we have is invested with a special devotion and dynamism lived out as a response to his service and call.”

“We cannot find God, without God. We cannot reach God without God. We cannot satisfy God without God.”

“Only when we respond to Christ and follow his call do we become our real selves and come to have personalities of our own.”

Where I Belong-Cory Asbury (by gymgurl984)

“He does not delight on the strength of the horse; He takes no pleasure in the legs of man. The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him, In those who hope in His mercy.”

Psalm 147:10&11

The Worker’s Ruling Passion

“My worth to God in public is what I am in private. Is my master ambition to please him and be acceptable to him, or is it something less, no matter how nobel?”

Oswald Chambers
